How long does it normally take before I can expect to get pregnant?

On average, a normal, young, fertile couple with regular intercourse without contraception has a 25% chance of getting pregnant each month. Most, about 87%, will achieve pregnancy within a year. If you have not become pregnant within a year of regular intercourse, you should consider seeing a doctor.
