How can I get pregnant after sterilization?

Whether you are a woman or a man and have been sterilized, assisted reproduction can be a good method to still get pregnant. For men, we can extract sperm from the testicle or epididymis, and in women, we do not depend on the fallopian tubes being intact (they are the ones that are cut during sterilization) to achieve fertilization and pregnancy.

If it is the woman who is sterilized, it can usually in vitro fertilization (IVF) be sufficient, provided that the man's sperm quality is normal.

If it is the man who is sterilized, we must use operative sperm retrieval to extract sperm cells, and microinjection (ICSI) in addition to IVF.
