IVF pregnant
Many couples experience difficulty getting pregnant on their own. This is a common and frustrating issue for many couples, but fortunately there is good help. You may have heard of others who are IVF pregnant? That is, pregnant after IVF treatment.
IVF treatment is a method in which the woman is stimulated with hormones so that she produces more eggs. In IVF treatment, the eggs are retrieved and fertilized in the laboratory. After a few days, a fertilized and divided egg (embryo) is returned to the uterus, and hopefully she becomes pregnant (IVF pregnancy).
We often get several fertilized and divided eggs of good quality during IVF treatment. We normally transfer one, while the rest are frozen. These can be thawed and transferred back in a later natural or lightly stimulated cycle. This is called FER (frozen-thawed embryo retrieval).
