Birth preparation course in Trondheim

Expecting a child is a time filled with anticipation, joy and perhaps even a little excitement leading up to birth. At Medicus, we want to give you the security and tools you need to face birth with calm, mastery and confidence in your own body. Our birth preparation course is held by our experienced midwife Rakel Bredesen. She gives you both knowledge and mental techniques that make you feel better equipped through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period.

What will you learn on our birth preparation course?

The course gives you a comprehensive understanding of what happens in the body during pregnancy and childbirth – and how you can use your body's own resources to master the birth process.
You will learn, among other things:

  • Tools for mental preparation og stress management

  • How you can find calm, breathing and focus during birth

  • Knowledge about them physiological changes what happens in the body

  • How to use your resources during the different parts of birth

Who is the course suitable for?

The course is suitable for all pregnant women, both first-time and multiple-time mothers. You can participate alone or with a partner.

Rakel Bredesen – midwife and course leader

Rakel is an experienced midwife and manager with over 20 years of practice in pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care at St. Olavs Hospital, and she has broad experience from both hospitals and municipal health services.

She combines solid professional knowledge with strong expertise in guidance, coaching and mindfulness. Through further education in guidance, NLP and mindfulness, Rakel has developed a holistic approach that enhances patient experiences and the quality of pregnancy, birth and postpartum care.

Rakel places great emphasis on creating security through mental preparation, so that pregnant women face pregnancy and childbirth with calm, mastery and confidence in their own strength and resources.
