Sperm donation treatment for two women – step by step
Medicus is approved as a sperm and egg bank, which means that we recruit our own Norwegian donors. In addition, we cooperate with the Danish sperm bank. CryosThis means that we have ample access to both Norwegian and Danish sperm donors, and we can offer treatment without any waiting time at all our locations.
1. Conversation and preliminary investigation
After you have contacted us, the first step is a conversation. Here we conduct examinations and/or review previous investigations and treatments before we create a treatment plan and enter into an agreement for treatment. In addition, you must fill out a donor selection form. This normally happens within two weeks of your contact.
2. Selection of donor
Choosing a donor is an important decision for many. In Norway, the regulations are such that the treating physician chooses the donor, but we have a dialogue around this important topic.
3. Start of treatment
Once we have found a donor that suits you, the actual treatment process begins, either with the help of IVF treatment or insemination (IUI).

Treatment with sperm donation often leads to many questions about price, process and legislation. Below we have compiled some of the most common questions couples often have about sperm donation.
Sperm donation is appropriate for:

- Couple consisting of man and woman where the man has no sperm or they are of too poor quality to get pregnant.
We normally have no waiting time either fertility check or treatment. A course of treatment takes 2-3 weeks from the start of treatment until it is finished.

The price for donor sperm is additional and depends on the type of treatment you are undergoing, as well as whether you wish to reserve donor sperm for future treatments. One of our donor coordinators will provide you with more information at the start of the treatment process.
Donors are selected based on desired physical characteristics, and their appearance should be taken as a starting point. It is the doctor who ultimately chooses a suitable donor, but we have a dialogue about this important topic. The donor will be unknown to you, but cannot be anonymous. Therefore, the child has the right to know the donor's identity when they turn 15.
To become a sperm donor, there are a number of requirements that are intended to ensure high quality sperm cells. The donor must be over 18 years of age, preferably between 25 and 45 years of age, and undergo a thorough fertility examination that includes blood tests, a semen sample and a conversation with a doctor. The donor is required to be in good physical and mental health, have no known hereditary diseases in the immediate family, and be free of infectious diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and syphilis. In addition, the donations must be made for altruistic reasons.
