Assisted fertilization
Assisted fertilization is a collective term for several medical methods used to help couples to conceive and have children.
The most common methods of assisted fertilization are:
- Insemination with partners or a donors semen
- Treatment, also known as IVF (in vitro fertilization), where eggs and semen are mixed in a toast for reproductive
- Microinjection, also called ICSI (intracytoplasmic spermie injection), in which one sperm IS injected into each egg cell
Micro-injection is also used in cases where sperm cells are extracted from testicles or bitesticles (TESE/TESA). This is a method we use if we do not find sperm in the sperm by a sperm sample or if the man is sterilized.
We are approved for all types of assisted fertilization in Norway. Here you can read more about the criteria that the law sets for who can seek assisted fertilization.
