What is 3D/4D ultrasound?
What distinguishes 3D-ultrasound from ordinary 2D is that you get a more realistic image of the fetus by getting an in depth picture of it. 4D-ultrasound also shows the movements of the little one in the belly.
From week 26-32 is the best time to perform 3D-ultrasound, but it is not always that the conditions are still optimal to get a good result. This depends on how the fetus is positioned in the belly and the amount of amniotic fluid. If the arms and legs and perhaps also the umbilical cord are in front of the face, it can be difficult to get good pictures.
An examination with 3D-ultrasound will still provide a lot of information. The growth is measured, the amount of amniotic fluid is assessed and you can see how the little one is positioned inside the uterus.
